Heavy Snow Freezing Fog?

The current conditions now are "Heavy Snow Freezing Fog". As if freezing fog wasn't confusing enough? So how do I distinguish the freezing fog from the heavy snow?

Or maybe the heavy snow *is* the freezing fog. Either way I'll be sure to grab a handful.

  3. I think you're using the wrong punctuation. Instead of "Heavy Snow/Freezing Fog" I think the forecasters are trying to describe "Heavy, Snow-Freezing Fog" or in other words a fog that makes you sweat under its weight and then freezes your perspiration into snow flakes. As I recall, Bill Murray gets trapped in Punxsutawney by this kind of weather in Groundhog Day.

  4. Amanda - Yes. Back of the Mt Vernon house that faces the Potomac river.

Ryan - thanks for the clarification. Are you suggesting then that we might have 6 more weeks of winter?
