Tomorrow our ward is celebrating Pi day (one day early because 3.14 is on sunday). Here is my entry into the pi(e) competition. A chocolate cheesecake pie. Can you figure out the equation on the top is for? Can someone at least review it for accuracy before the big day?
Jack guesses that it's the area of a slice of an elliptical cone.

Excuse me. VOLUME of a slice, not area. Jack saw my mistake and was mortified. Nerd alert!
ReplyDeleteKatie, those comments are hilarious, and Jack has the right idea. I'm not actually sure how correct the equation is since I spent about 10 minutes on it, and about 8 minutes of that time I spent trying to recall whether I'd learned anything in my undergrad calculus classes about 9 years ago. I've now decided that all I probably learned then was that if you right a pretty equation nobody will check your work too closely. D is for Degree!
